Evening discussion
Wednesday 26 November 2014
6-8pm
What role can
artist-run spaces have?
Join us for a 'salon'-style debate, in the form of a serious but informal group discussion.
The hosts will start the evening with a short presentation to establish some context, we will then all discuss the topic as a group (or in several small groups).
This is an opportunity for
all who come to the meeting (including guest participants) to join in the discussion and contribute
to the debate from their personal point of view, in
an inclusive and relaxed atmosphere.
You do not need to have background knowledge of the topic to join.
This event is run in partnership with the Blue Monkey network of artists.
Venue: Towner gallery

The resurgence
of the figure in contemporary sculptural discourse & practice
Join us for a 'salon'-style informal group discussion on the reassertion of the human figure in contemporary sculpture.
As sculpture’s oldest subject matter, we will look at and think about how today’s varied approaches to making three-dimensional approximations of the human form depart from pure representation.
This is an open-ended conversation about why the figure continues to be of relevance and to consider the wider response, connections and references these forms invite.
